许愿树 (Wishing Tree)
is a commission for The Cynthia Lovelace Sears Collection and is inspired by the Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees,
a popular shrine in Hong Kong where my mother grew up. Visitors there tie wishes to oranges and
throw them as high as they can onto the tree’s branches. Visitors to our wishing tree tied wishes to paper oranges that are designed with the same design as the carousel tree and tossed them onto the tree’s branches.

Colette Fu: Wishing Tree | Artist Residency Timelapse
As you can see in the photos, most of the work was completed in another area, and unfortunately not documented.
Timelapse footage of artist Colette Fu constructing her giant carousel pop-up book as part of Bainbridge Island Museum of Art's first artist residency program. The artwork is inspired by the Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees shrine in Hong Kong. Commissioned for the Cynthia Sears Artists' Books Collection.
